Mayor Al David T. Uy delivered his 7th State of the City Address (SOCA), highlighting his administration’s focus on five development sectors towards attaining the city’s vision, which is anchored both on the 2040 Sustainable Development Goals and the Marcos Administration’s 8-point socio-economic agenda, as well as what was agreed on in the executive legislative agenda for 2023–2025. That was fueled by the five (5) development sectors: infrastructure, environmental, economic, social, and institutional.
"Ang pinaka importante sa tanan ang Samal Island-Davao City connector Bridge. Finally, masugdan na gyud. In fact, during the last quarter of last year, Philippine President Bongbong Marcos, Vice President Sarah Duterte, the Chinese Ambassador, and all stakeholders attended the ground-breaking. This is the most-awaited Samal Island-Davao City connector Bridge project. Last month, the writ of position was served. The area where the bridge will be built has already been cleared and fenced off. The contractor is now in the preparation process, including the hiring of workers for the project." Mayor Uy said.
The infrastructure development was equipped and continuously upgraded, including the information technology, electrification, water system, drainage, buildings for health facilities, and education facilities that would contribute to all development sectors, especially in the economic, environmental, and social sectors, which would be accessible to basic services that generally developed the constituents' lives in the urban and rural areas on the island.
Mayor Uy also proudly reported that the ecological solid waste recycling facility in the sanitary landfill is now operational. Among all of the local governments in Region XI, Samal Island was one that passed and received awards for passing the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sanitary landfill standards.
He stressed about land banking program, which successfully transferred ownership of 15 titles to the government. However, Mayor Uy remarked to allot budget for lands which donated, but they have not yet been transferred to the government including the road right of way.
