Samal Island, December 07, 2022- Two hundred (200) hog farmers each received one (1) sack of starter feeds as part the Swine stocking project, initiated to assist the farmers repopulate swine livestock and revive their livelihood. The repopulation activity is spearheaded and facilitated by the City Veterinary office headed by Dr. Edunel C. Sala. The successful distribution took place at the Brgy. Sta. Cruz Wharf at the Talikud Island, Kaputian District.
Targeting to distribute four hundred (400) feeds, the City Veterinary dispenses the first half to the hog farmers whom have complied with the biosecurity level 1 protocol requirements which includes septic tank, fence, and pigpen. It was emphasized that the importance of the biosecurity protocol is to minimize if not completely diminish the risk of another swine flu outbreak.
One hundred five (105) recipients came from Baranggay Sta. Ctuz, fifty-eight (58) from Brgy. Cogon, thirty (30) from Brgy. Dadatan, and seven (7) recipients came from Brgy. Linosutan. Prior the distribution the CVET personnel validated each of the beneficiary to ensure eligibility of the assistance.
One of the beneficiaries stated her gratitude to the unrelenting support of the local government of IGaCoS that was consistent from the outbreak of the ASF till the recovery of their livelihood. “Nag pasalamat mi kay mayor kay bisan gipanguhaan mi ug baboy (tungod sa ASF) gibalik ra pud niya sa amua ang amoang mga capital. Nabalik sa amua ang amuang pangkinabuhi nga baboy. Salamat pud kay nakadawat mi ana (starter feeds). Dako kay na ug tabang kay mahal pud baya ang feeds.” she said.
