November 8, 2022, Kaputian Beach park IGACOS- 47 participants, representing their sponsoring resorts, registered for the 2nd Annual Water and Search Rescue and Lifeguard training.
The 10-day training, from November 8-17, 2022, is supervised by the Philippine Coast Guard-IGACOS, spearheaded by the station commander, CG ENSIGN Vasit A. Venturillo, through the active facilitation of the City Investment and Tourism Office headed by Ms. Jennifer Cariaga, together with the Samal Island Beach Resorts Association (SIBRA) headed by Ms. Ruby Uy.
In her welcoming message, Ms. Ruby Uy expressed her glee to the participants for fearlessly taking the challenge that guarantees rigorous training to be a competent and skillful lifeguard and to the local government of IGACOS for the support and assistance that was readily provided. “Ang training mag challenge sa inyuhang intellectual ability, physical endurance... Just an assurance that naa mi tanan making sure that the10-day training would run smoothly… Magpadayon ta sa pag ampo na maayu atoang lawas ug kanang atoang mga activities will be blessed. Salamat sad sa local government kay gipagamit mi ninyo (Kaputian Beachpark) ug daghan pang support that I cannot already enumerate.“ She said.
Duly representing City Mayor Al David T. Uy, City Administrator Neiljun Esdrelon relayed the message of the City Mayor,“Inyung presence diri, it is all about preparedness. Pagpangandam… Kinahanglan ma-equip mo. Ma train how to save lives. That’s the equation, saving life… Kinahanglan humanon gyud ninyo ang napulo ka adlaw. This is a dedication this is a commitment.” he said. He also expressed his appreciation to the SIBRA for their active participation and responsible stewardship of their respective resorts.
Along the course of the event, the SIBRA president turned over the participants to the PCG. Coast Guard Captain Gary Dale Gimotea accepted the participants and declared the opening of the training.
It was made sure that the participants are physically fit and does meet the health requirements through the physical check-up that was conducted by the PCG and CHO medical team.
Also present at the event were City Councilor Hon. Marife Bantillo, City Councilor Hon. Aldwin Jumao-as, City Councilor Hon Clavel Ann David and the resort owners. (CIO-IGACOS / Eli)
