One thousand one hundred (1100) sacks of 10kg of rice were apportioned to Barangay Limao, Samal District, by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China for the Republic of the Philippines and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), today, October 28, 2022, at the barangay covered court.
Limao is where the Samal Island-Davao Connector (SIDC) will land its posts, and in his speech, the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, mentioned that the donation is their token of appreciation and friendship to the locals. Along with the development that the SIDC will definitely bring to Davao City and Samal, he also hopes for the progress of Limao, in particular. "We are happy that we are improving our relationship... We hope this kind of relationship will not only renew our friendship but also promote our cooperation and bring more tangible benefits to the people from both sides," Ambassador Huang Xilian further said.
Moreover, City Mayor Al David T. Uy conveyed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy and CRBC for the benevolence that they have given to the city, especially for the partnership and the investment that they have offered for the construction of the SIDC. He also emphasized his appreciation for the efforts of the previous and present administrations that led to the realization of the bridge.
In the course of the event, Barangay Captain Eric Obeso thanked the donators and local government for the gift given to the people of Barangay Limao and is optimistically looking forward to more improvement in the community.
