Newly elected and re-elected local officials of the Island Garden City of Samal for 2022-2025, along with their families, took their oath of office yesterday afternoon, June 16, 2022, at the New City Park, Sitio Maag Penaplata, Samal District.

Re-elected, and a third termer City Mayor Al David T. Uy was sworn in by Judge Maria Eloisa A. Maglana of RTC IGaCoS, who also administered the oath to newly elected City Vice Mayor Lemuel T. Reyes.

In his inaugural speech following his swearing in as Local Chief Executive, re-elect City Mayor Al David T. Uy heightened his two (2) major plans in his three years in service which the approval of 350 billion loan agreement, and hoping there would be a ground-breaking of Davao-Samal bridge this coming July. And second, the transfer of NORDECO to Davao light and Power Company.

“Hopefully, we will balance economic development and environmental protection, ilabi na kung aduna nay tulay. We have a lot of opportunities ahead of us, but with those opportunities come challenges, especially with the upcoming bridge that would really test Samal Island. Lets give credit where credit is due. Pasalamat gyud ko sa tanang tabang gikan sa governor and congressman. Mayor Uy added in his inaugural speech.

Re-elected City Mayor Al David T. Uy and newly elected City Vice Mayor Lemuel T. Reyes have common goal, both urged everyone to work together and unite for the island's economic growth.

Also, Babak District's re-elected and newly elected City Councilors - Hon. Clavel Ann A. David, Hon. Jed L. Enumerables, Hon. Renz Allan S. Lacorte, and Hon. Edwin M. Jansol took their oath of office before Judge Theresa Montana-Baluyut of Municipal Trial Court, Branch 2, Island Garden City of Samal.

Samal District's re-elected and newly elected City Councliors Hon. Peter Paul L. Quezada, Hon. Marife B. Bantillo, Hon. Ginaphine C. Cañete, and Hon. Kristoperson B. Lanorias, took their oath of office before Atty. Joseph M. Apao, City Prosecutor.

Kaputian District's re-elected and newly elected City Councilors, Hon. Ricardo A. Tacsanan, Hon. Aldwin M. Jumao-as, Hon. Alfredo L. Esteban Jr., and Hon. Jan Albert R. Ortiz took their oath of office before Judge Theresa Montana-Baluyut of Municipal Trial Court, Branch 2, Island Garden City of Samal.

Davao del Norte Governor Edwin I. Jubahib, department heads from local government, national and provincial agencies, employees, and forty-six (46) barangay officials, private citizens, families, relatives, friends, supporters of the elected officials and other attendees witnessed the ceremonious event.
