8 big shells, 4 corals, 3 1.5-liter white sand, 1 bag of pebbles, and 1 bag of white sand, which were confiscated from the passengers going out of the island, were turned over by the Philippine Ports Authority headed by DM Maribel Y. Mendoza, together with PP02 Bernardino F. Dela Gente, to City Mayor Al David T. Uy, duly represented by Atty. Rosemarie B. Garde, at the City Mayor's Office on April 27, 2022.
The items will be then safely kept and displayed in the city's future museum, signifying and raising awareness to the tourists, as well as to the locals, to refrain from collecting, afflicting harm, or even destructing aquatic species on the island.
This is also in accordance with REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10654 "AN ACT TO PREVENT, DETER AND ELIMINATE ILLEGAL, UNREPORTED AND UNREGULATED FISHING, AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8550, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "THE PHILIPPINE FISHERIES CODE OF 1998," AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"."
