May 11, 2023 — "Salamat kaayo sa tanan na mga suporta na gihatag ninyo sa syudad. Dili mani mahimo sa syudad kung wala pud naglihok ang barangay" City Mayor Al David T. Uy said as he expressed gratitude to the 46 Punong Barangays for their strong collaboration and partnership with the local government unit of IGACOS, leading to commendable development in their respective barangays and of the city in general.
Mayor Uy shared his practical plans, which include short-term and mid-term solutions to the concurrent predicaments that the city is facing while waiting for the permanent ones. He also reminded the chairpersons to always be vigilant and acquainted with the people going in and out of their barangay to avoid threats and to strengthen peace and order.
Moreover, City Vice Mayor Lemuel Reyes expressed his appreciation to the Punong Barangays for their sincere dedication, which indicates how progressive a city is being the smallest unit of the local government. He also reminded everyone to keep the unity going and move toward the common goals for the city.
Preceding the awarding ceremony was the orientation and giving of updates by Engr. Matthew III F. Arig and Engr. Edwin R. Malipayon concerning DBM Local Budget Circular no. 150, specifically the Guidelines on the Release and Utilization of the Local Government Supports Fund- Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) 2023.
Furthermore, City Administrator Nieljun C. Esdrelon hopes that the orientation will harmonize the engagement of the local government and barangay units in the implementation of the projects.
