On its 70th Araw ng Barangay and in line with the celebration of this year’s Summer Saya sa Isla, boat racers once again came together in Brgy. Tagpopongan, Babak District, for the most anticipated Bangkarera 2023 on May 6-8, 2023. Lines were drawn to the sea as the boat racers geared their way to victory in the 18 horsepower open category, the 7 horsepower open category, and the Bugsay category exclusive to Brgy. Tagpopongan residents.
In the 18HP Open Category, El’Lemar from Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental, captained by Kim Mark Bantilan, bested other competitors from different places and took home the cash prize of P200,000; El'Lemar, captained by Jayr Amplayo Deloy, was hailed as the 1st runner-up with a P100, 000 cash prize; D’Agent from Sigaboy, Governor Generoso, captained by Rogie Barit, took home P50,000 as the 2nd runner-up; and Jemar from Darong, Davao del Sur, drove by Boy Sapilin, secured the spot for the 3rd runner-up with P25,000.
Meanwhile, Doremon of Bunawan, Davao City, captained by Sadam Amand, was declared the victor in the 7HP Open Category and took home P20,000; Sam Bastida managing Shaika of Sirawan, Davao City, ended up as the 1st runner-up with a P10,000 cash prize; Sixta of Mati City, drove by Allen Mula, was declared the 2nd runner-up with a P7000 cash prize; and Mohammar Basucao on boarding 2 Sister was hailed as the 3rd runner-up and took home P5000.
Local residents of Tagpopongan also rowed their way in the Bugsay category, wherein a maximum of five people per boat were allowed in the competition. Purok 2 was hailed as champions, while Purok 4 and Purok 3 were declared 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, respectively.
Davao Del Norte Governor Edwin Jubajib, duly represented by Mr. Arnel Montero, City Mayor Al David T. Uy, duly represented by Babak Deputy Mayor Lito Lutang, City Vice Mayor Lemuel T.
