Five hundred fifty (550) participants from all over the nation withstood the uphill, downhill and, rough terrains of the 30KM and 15KM trail adventure made extra extreme by the heavy downpour of rain. The challenge takers passed through the five barangays of Kaputian district, namely, Brgy. Poblacion, Brgy. Bandera, Brgy. Kanaan, Brgy. Tagbaobo and Brgy. San Isidro. At exactly 1:15AM of May 7, 2023, 30KM trail runners started the race while 15KM trail runners set-off at 5:30AM. Instructions and reminders were explained beforehand by Race Director Dax Ang to assure the safety of everyone.
Emerging as the winners of the 15K trail women’s category, are Ms. Vanessa Manlosa as 2nd runner-up Quiṅanola, Ms. Razzil as 1st runner-up, and Hailed as the champion is Ms. Mariel Cantila. In men’s category, Mr. Antonio Baguio was declared as 2nd runner-up, Mr. Paul James Zafico as 1st runner-up, and heralded as the champion, finishing the race within 2 hours, 17 minutes, 35 seconds, is Mr. Marjones Abugan.
The victors in 30 KM trail women’s category are, Ms, Lizy Ayn Misa as 2nd runner-up, Ms. Arian Jane Aloy as 1st runner-up and Ms. Maria Josephine Yao championed finishing the race within 5 hours, 20 minutes and 25 seconds. In men’s category Mr. Roberto Cain was hailed as 2nd runner-up, Mr. Romnick Tongkaling as 1st runner-up, and heralded as the champion finishing the race within 3 hours, 53 minutes and 12 seconds, is Mr. Jong Mahinay.
Department of Tourism Regional Director, Ms. Tanya Rabat-Tan congratulated the finishers and expressed her gratitude to Salomon Trail Run and to City Mayor Al David T. The Race director reiterated the congratulatory the finishers for successfully overcoming the difficulties encountered in traversing the trails and expressed his gratitude to everyone for taking part in the success of the event. “Daghan kaayung salamat sa inyuhang tanan!
