TESDA Training Induction Program for Masonry NCII

Opportunities in the Island Garden City of Samal further expand under the leadership of City Mayor Al David T. Uy as an Induction program for Masonry NCII was conducted on April 04, 2024, at the Slaughter House Facility barangay San Agustin, Babak District. The endeavor was successfully realized through the Public Employment Service Office led by Ms. Emmalyn Moriones, and the cooperation of the City Economics Enterprise Management office led by Atty. Nimrod Ogatis duly represented by Nelson Aquino, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority XI.

The City is propelled by the vision of turning IGACOS into the center of higher Technical Education and Skills Development Authority City Training Center beyond the traditional education in 2027 and dedicated to the mission of intensifying the mutant Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the island by providing skills training opportunities for Samaleṅos. 

Beneficiating the scholarship funded by the LGU and utilizing training supplies, training support, and funds supplied by TESDA, will be the 25 applicants who will embark on the 23 days of training, starting on April 08, 2024, 3 times a week. Each will receive an allowance during the duration of their training.

Center Administrator Engr. Efren T. Ojeda reported that under the “TESDA sa Barangay” the flagship program initiated by Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu, various skills training were brought to barangays; Aundanao, Cawag, San Isidro, Tambo, Libuak, Cogon, Toril and in Talikud Island. He added that the program, which is anchored on the “Bagong Pilipinas” brand of governance focused on implementing an all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation, is aimed to be delivered to the 46 barangays in IGACOS. 

Mayor Uy expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given to the program's beneficiaries. Further he conveyed his hope for more courses to be offered to the constituents of Samal and for the slaughterhouse to acquire the double-A accreditation from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS). He emphasizes the aim of increasing the provision of job opportunities most especially for the out-of-school youth. “Kabalo man ta nga in demand ang butchering run. Kabalo pud ta na naa nay mga taga Samal nga naka abroad na tungod sa butchering. So kana opportunity pud na dili lang sa inyuha pati sa mga out of school, kay mao gyud ni ang target nato, ang mga out of school youth… pwede sila mag butchering diri basin mao pay makausab sa ilang kinabuhi, maka abroad sila. So mao na ang atong pinaka goal gyud. Mao nang maningkamot ta” he said.
