Island Garden City of Samal–Samaleño swimmer Kyle Pajarito, 19, from Barangay Tambo dominated the men’s swimming competition for bagging five gold medals and was named the Best Male Athlete in the National-Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2017 at Iba, Zambales on April 22 to 29.

Pajarito bested the other 23 competitors from different regions in the Philippines after winning five gold medals in 1.5km Freestyle with a time record of 19 minutes and 17.17 seconds; 400m Individual Medley (5:31.31), 400m and 200m (2:14.26) Freestyle; 200m Butterfly (2:25.47), and two (2) silver medals in 4X200m Free Style and helped his team finish second in the 4X100m Freestyle Relay (4:19.5) category.

“All the hard work paid off, and I’m very thankful that I have brought pride to Samal in my second try in National PRISAA,” quintuple gold medalist Kyle Pajarito said.

Pajarito joined PRISAA 2016 and settled for silver and bronze medals.

“It motivated me to constantly practice for this year’s competition and I’m very thankful that I got not just 1 but 5 gold medals plus the Best Male Athlete of the Year,” Pajarito added.

Pajaritor who is currently enrolled as a Marine Transportation student in DMMA College, is granted a 5-year scholarship. He plans to join next year’s National PRISAA Pajarito’s achievements were recognized through the initiative of Samal City Councilor Richard Guindolman and City Sports Coordinator Mark Latras during the LGU-Samal’s Monday Convocation on June 19 at the Samal Multipurpose Gym.
