Island Garden City of Samal – Igacos celebrated the 19th founding anniversary of the island in an event dubbed as the Pasidungog Pasalamat which highlighted the accomplishments and partnerships that fostered the progress and development in the city at Playa Azalea, Limao in Samal on March 6.
Around 60 national agencies and private sectors outside the island were recognized during the event themed as “Edad 19: Samal Island Padayon sa Paglambo” for their contribution to the success of the island in the past 19 years.
“I chose this place for our visitors to see the beauty of the island,” Samal City Mayor Al David Uy said.
Vice Mayor Orly Amit also pointed out the efforts of former governor Rodolfo del Rosario as the principal author in creating the Island Garden City of Samal.
“I’ve seen the efforts of the politicians, councillors of Samal, Babak and Kaputian - the first elected officials. Let us not also forget the support of the Floirendo family; the Antalan brothers who were the first two mayors of the Samal City.
The culmination activity was also graced by Gov. Anthony Garcia del Rosario, Vice Gov. Allan Dujali, and Senior Board Member Rodolfo del Rosario, Jr. on March 7 at the Peñaplata Central Elementary School.
“It has been 19 years since Samal has been declared a city. And in a span of almost 2 decades, we have witnessed many developmental changes in the island, such as roads, infrastructures and private investments that boosted the socio-economic aspect of the island,” Del Rosario said. Jezza Samal Info
