Mindanao netters depart for national tournament

THE five-member Team Mindanao leaves today to compete in the Milo National Junior Tennis Championships set on August 27 to 29 at the Clark Freeport, Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Island Garden City of Samal's Christian Fel Lopez departs at 10 a.m. while Davao City's John Jeric Accion leaves at 12 p.m. along with General Santos City's Sharyl delos Santos and Kidapawan City's Jzash Eale Canja.

Jericho Into Painagan of Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte takes a 9 p.m. flight. Lopez and delos Santos are seeing action in boys and girls 12-under events, respectively, while Accion and Canja are entered in the 14-under boys and girls categories.

Painagan expects a stiff contest in 10-under unisex.

The five Mindanaoans booked seats to the finals after topping their events in the qualifying event held in June.

Organizers arranged a press conference slated Thursday for all the finalists.
Slots to the Malaysia-bound Team Philippines are up for grabs in the national finals. (MLSA)

Down south: The Island Garden City of Samal (Region XI), for its paradise-like coves and beaches, eco-adventure sites and activities; Cagayan de Oro City (Region X), not only as gate way to the northern part of Mindanao but also caters to city based-adventure activities; Butuan City (Region XIII) of Caraga is historical mecca of the Philippines with good access to Agusan marshlands and surfing capital of Siargao; Sarangani (Region XII) can always pull a surprise with its beautiful coastlines, diverse cultural heritage and aqua tourism activities; Dapitan City (Region IX) of Zamboanga del Sur, holds one of the historical treasures of Dr. Jose Rizal, complemented by its rustic surroundings and thriving aqua culture industry.

“These places are perfect for corporate travelers and holidaymakers,” says Cesar Cruz, Philippine Tourism Authority president. “Each place has something unique to offer, and we’re hoping that more and more people understand the fact that the Philippines has what it takes to be one of the world’s premier travel destinations.”

The destinations will be featured at the 21st Philippine Travel Mart on September 3 to 5 at the SM Megatrade Halls, as part of the Biyahe Exchange Program, a one-on-one business meeting between corporate buyers and travel sellers where travel adventures, trips, and tours are offered to companies for corporate outings and company incentives.

 

 
LGU-IGACOS Employee Chosen as Semifinalist in Civil Service Nationwide Search

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announces the semi-finalists of the 2010 nationwide Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees of the distinguished Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Pagasa, and Dangal ng Bayan Awards.

For this year's search, one (1) nominee from Island Garden City of Samal made it as semi-finalists in the person of Lourdes D. Cesar, Agricultural Technologist II of the City Agriculturist's Office in Local Government Unit of IGaCoS for the Dangal ng Bayan Award.

Ms. Lordes Cesar together with the other semi-finalists in different categories from other regions will still be subjected to a thorough background investigation by the Commission as regards the veracity of the information stated in their nominations.

Villarica-Garcia Family Donated Lot To 135 IGaCoS Informal Settlers

The local government unit (LGU) of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) led by Mayor Aniano P. Antalan recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among Emperatriz Villarica Garcia, the barangay government of Kinawitnon represented by Brgy. Captain Alfredo C. Fenecios, and Amado-Titis Kinawitnon Homeowners Association (ATKHOA) represented by their association president Josephine Rafailes.

The MOA signing was held at the Mayor’s Office spearheaded by Engr. Fabian Badiang, head of the IGaCoS City Housing Unit with some other members of ATKHOA witnessing the said event. This partnership is a collaborative effort of the parties to help uplift the conditions and quality of life of the informal settlers and homeless citizens in IGaCoS.

Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), July 19, 2010 – A total of four hundred eighty six (486) indigent families here benefited from the local government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). In coordination with the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) Region XI and Land Bank of the Philippines, 4Ps is a poverty reduction strategy that provides grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition, and education.

Samal Island To See More Real Estate Dev’t In 2010

THE Island Garden City of Samal is set to witness major real estate development year.

In a story published in Sun.Star Davao on April 5, real estate giant Filinvest Land Incorporated will now venture into the highly in-demand condominium development in southern Mindanao.

While all the other real estate developments are venturing into the medium rise development in Davao City, Filinvest takes the lead once again by constructing the first condominium project in IGaCoS.

The project will be located on the front area of its luxurious Kembali coast project.
